There has been a continual increase in the rate of domestic abuse in the West Midlands region, with cases increasing 31% so far in 2020. Government restrictions implemented to tackle covid-19 have made it harder for victims to escape their homes which has led to a further rise in cases. During these tough times, the need for support is heightened making it vital that we increase our scope and provide more care and assistance than ever before. Our clients are affected directly by serious issues such as child exploitation, homelessness, domestic abuse, and trauma meaning every means of help accessed is of great importance. The benefits of our work are wide-ranging in the local community; we aim to reduce social inequality, criminality and poverty whilst promoting stability in life through education and employment. Our main focus is to continue to offer is bespoke 1-2-1 and group work support face to face and virtually in the form of mentoring, coaching and group work activities. We have seen this essential life changes to the overall life outcomes of our clients. We work alongside local schools, communities, enterprises, and Local Authorities to promote community cohesion and offer training to enhance the skill base of workers in health, schools, and social services. Your funding will therefore be of great benefit to the local community collectively, whilst also directly impacting the lives of the individuals that we work with. Who are we? Believe in Bee is a small bespoke strengths-based charity created to support vulnerable persons aged between 10 – 27 years of age affected by the impact of Domestic Violence, Abuse, Exploitation, and Post trauma within the Birmingham West Midlands region. We are one of the ONLY charities in Birmingham whose focus of support is offered to a wide and varied age range, allowing the services we provide to reach the right people at the right time. Our charity was founded after the tragic and unexpected passing of Bianca Martina Thomas pictured above aged 25years. Bianca’s life ended through the result of domestic violence and abuse, leaving 3 small children behind. We aim to offer the support that was sadly not available to Bianca; support that is necessary in order to prevent further loss of lives, and protect those who are suffering from similar circumstances. Our Approach We are an organization with wide reaching aspirations underpinned by our fundamental ambition to improve the life outcomes of our clients, whilst reducing the risk of further exposure to Domestic Violence and Abuse. We at Believe In Bee Foundation strive to create a community of support for our clients which offers - care, reassurance, safety, and familiarity throughout the process of intervention. We adopt a holistic approach in line with our client’s unique circumstances and presented needs. This means our vast range of support affords our workers to effortlessly adopt individual and person-centered interventions face to face or virtually offering clients 1-2-1, family, or group setting experiences of tailored support. Why we need your help? We currently operate entirely on income raised through fundraising. Fundamentally, the support that an individual receives during the suffering inflicted by Domestic Violence and Abuse can prove to be the difference between them losing their life and the beginning of their recovery. It is therefore essential that we are able to provide this support to as many people we can. Moving forward with the help of your donation, we aspire to provide our clients with support in other areas such as legal aid, counselling, and, through residential and recreational experiences designed to improve mental health and increase resilience. This will allow clients to receive a comprehensive array of support from one centralised place during the complex and difficult process of starting a new life that is safer and most importantly BETTER.
