Responsible for: Encouraging greener living within your community and promoting Greener and Cleaner as a source of advice and inspiration. DBS Check: Some volunteer duties may require a DBS check About the role Greener and Cleaner are looking for volunteers to act as Community Ambassadors to encourage greener living within their communities, promoting Greener and Cleaner as a source of advice and inspiration. We are especially interested in anyone with skills in: Customer facing roles Outreach work Fundraising What will you be doing? We’ve created a supportive, judgement-free and engaging experience for visitors in our Hub and want to sport this with wider activity in communities across Bromley and beyond. Your role will be central to connecting with the community, promoting Greener and Cleaner, running activities and sharing on social media. TASKS MAY INCLUDE Connect with the community: use your own personal, professional or volunteering networks to spread the word about Greener and Cleaner and share how the community could benefit from a greener lifestyle. Promote Greener and Cleaner: learn about Greener and Cleaner’s activities and events, and share what advice and resources are available to the community. Running activities: run a sustainability related activity or stall at community events or fairs. Support Greener and Cleaner: help to build on existing community relationships and projects such as The Hub or the Greener and Cleaner Community Allotment. Share on social media: help to promote Greener and Cleaner by sharing our posts and event listings. Who are we looking for? Someone with great communication skills who likes to approach and meet new people. Ideally with a background in any of the following: Customer facing roles Outreach work Fundraising Comfortable working in a customer-facing role in a diverse community. A team player. We’re mostly all part-time and/or volunteers relying on, and supporting each other, in our various roles. We’re a very friendly bunch and warmly welcome new people on the team. You’ll need to be over 18, please. Training is provided, but a willingness to learn more about climate change, sustainability, biodiversity, air quality, active travel etc. is very helpful. If you have some experience with social media this would also be beneficial to the role, but not essential. Knowledge of local activities and organisations would be beneficial but not essential. What difference will you make? You’ll be part of our pilot project which, if successful, will see versions of The Hub rolled out across the UK, providing a blueprint for others to be shared and upscaled. This is about engagement and encouragement: about trying and learning. We want to make people feel that whatever they can do helps, by attending events and learning new skills this is all part of the small everyday changes they can make to help fight climate change.
