The Story

Honoring William Reid the way he loved the most - by helping others. On the 3rd January 2020, Dr William Reid died in a tragic skiing accident. Following William’s death, a campaign was launched by William's family to raise funds for a school in Zambia that raised almost £60,000. Zambia had made an impression on William during an earlier trip and he always wanted to return to help the children there. We used the funds to totally transform a school, building 3 classrooms, a teacher's house, a toilet block and a teacher's office. The community renamed the school The William Reid School in his honor. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, hundreds more children are now getting a quality education previously denied them: the number of children attending the William Reid Primary school has risen from 155 to 619 and is still rising! We now need more support to cater for the extra children that are attending and to move the school up to include secondary pupils too.
