The Story
BOUNDS GREEN FOOD BANK CHARITY
Our history and story on how our Bounds Green Food Bank came to be.
A month before the lockdown of 2020, the Volunteers from the Bowes Park Community Association established a network of street groups ready to help neighbours with shopping, prescription deliveries and friendly support. Once these services were running the need for a weekly food parcel delivery service became apparent. We were helped by Palmers Green Mosque who stepped in to provide a supply of donated food to residents.
As the end of the three month lockdown neared, the volunteers recognised that the economic fallout of the pandemic was likely to grow leaving many people in the area facing ongoing food insecurity. Establishing a Food Bank seemed to be the most appropriate response. An enthusiastic and dedicated group of coordinators came together under the joint organisation of Bounds Green Mutual Aid and Bowes Park Community Association. The Food Bank opened in June 2020 just as the lockdown was easing under the umbrella of Bowes Park Community Association. As the services of this food bank become critical to the wellbeing of our community, the Bounds Green Food Bank Charity was official incorporated with the Charities Commission of England ( Charity No. 1205032) on the 3 October 2023. This only from the grace and strength of the community and the volunteers who help make a difference to our cherished community.
Vision
We envisage a community in which everyone has access to food and other essentials.
Mission
Our commitment is to share food across our community and improve lives by providing food and essential household items to build a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow. Our commitment is also to our guests with life changing free advice to make a lasting difference in their lives.

Bounds Green Food Bank
At Bounds Green Food Bank, we provide over 1,300 people a week with cupboard items, fresh fruit and vegetables and personal and cleaning products. On average, guests are given £30-40 worth of shopping each week.
We also offer a weekly advice service that helps our guests get information on housing, employment, benefits and social advice. Additionally, we provide school uniforms and winter coats for our guests within our communities.
With food inflation and the cost of living crisis being felt across our communities, like everybody else, our running costs and supplies costs to feed our guests have increased substantially. To continue our free service to our valued guests we really need your generous help. You the community are our backbone and without your help and generosity we cannot keep doing the work, that is part of our mission.
This year going into summer then winter, we're appealing to our community to help us raise vital funds for the Food Bank throughout as we need your kind help to keep fighting against poverty.
If you would like to organise a fundraising event, please get in touch via our website or social media channels for posters and information.
We thank you for your generous support.
