The Story
For the last year I have been pondering to run a marathon. With the lock down coming in, I missed my daily cycle commute to work and going to the gym - there was only running left, so I ran a lot more often. And further. The longest and hardest I've done was circling Lake Ullswater this August, 20 miles up and down the fells.
Unfortunately, Covid also means there are no races to sign up for. When I heard that Bounds Green Food Bank urgently needs funds to keep struggling families in the area stay afloat, I decided I wanted to do my bit (on top of dropping off the occasional package of teabags and Weetabix), so I picked my own running challenge to raise funds for the food bank.
I haven't quite made it to marathon yet, so I will do a large 22 mile lap of North London via Alexandra Park, Highgate Wood, Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill, the Regents Canal and the Lea Valley back to Myddleton Road - see map of the planned route here: google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1PMk2qauqVMnp0WkCCEwc4fhzPBR-06ha&usp=sharing
I will run on Sunday, 18th of October (for World Food Day), setting off from Myddleton Road Community Garden at 8:30.
This is a cause close to my heart so please give generously!
My employer will match donations up to £350, super-charging what you give!
