Task Force (Ukraine)

Task Force is the Code for Romania programme where we address any emergency situation and humanitarian crisis with digital tools of civic technology. The programme was launched in 2019 and implemented in 2020, once the Covid-19 pandemic hit. After 2 years, we have reactivated Task Force. On Thursday, Feb 24, Code for Romania interrupted its usual activity and since then, has been directing all our community’s efforts to build the digital infrastructure designed to support the Ukrainian refugees and the Romanian institutional actors involved in diminishing the effects of the current crisis. Dopomoha.ro (already live, the go-to official information platform), Un Acoperis and Sprijin de Urgenta (the resource management tools, operationalization stage) and Cine ce Face (mapping of the institutional actors involved, in development) are just part of an unique integrated national ecosystem of response that all public institutions and NGOs will use in case of emergency, including the current context of the military conflict that affects Ukraine. And this is just the beginning. Each day and each hour bring new situations and new needs that we are carefully considering in order to have a swift proper answer with civic tech tools (all updates on our activity are public on our Social Media channels). Since the current crisis will have long-term effects and the future is completely unpredictable, basically, right now, we are building the national system of response to emergencies and humanitarian crises. We will need funding to ensure the proper maintenance and updates in order to create a truly sustainable digital ecosystem.
