The Story

Since 2018 our installation technicians in Senegal have manually drilled 300 boreholes. Stacked on top of each other this is a staggering 6km into the ground! To make their lives easier we want to upgrade the equipment they use. We would like to invest in a mud pumping system, where water is pumped down the drilling stem. At the bottom of the borehole it goes back up outside the drilling stem carrying sludge with it. When it reaches the top it exits the borehole to a settling pit. Although still a manual drilling technique, this will make the drilling process less labour intensive and much quicker. It will also enable us to drill up to 15m deeper than we are currently able to meaning that we can instal boreholes in areas previously beyond our reach.
