The Story
Traumatic injuries are a major cause of death and disability world-wide, particularly in Africa. Patients often cannot access treatment due to lack of surgeons or the ability to pay for surgery. Trauma Team aims to reduce suffering, disability and poverty particularly due to traumatic injuries by undertaking surgical assessments and procedures. It builds capacity locally by working side-by-side during projects with Kenyan surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, orthopaedic technicians, radiographers and physiotherapists. The team may also undertake corrective surgery for childhood orthopaedic problems.
