The Story
Heart Heroes have helped many families in Gloucestershire who are affected by heart conditions. We would like to extend our support network by reaching out to families in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We can only do this with your support - below are some of the activities that we provide to support families in need.
*‘Heart Hugs’ creative packs to children and siblings of all ages, to put a smile back on their face during complete isolation, lengthy hospital appointments and admissions.
*An Ipad on loan to vulnerable children to enable them to communicate with siblings, parents and friends, during lengthy hospital admissions or whilst shielding.
* An online shared support network, to gain a practical understanding of conditions, how to manage care and a forum to share concerns and experiences.
*The beginning of a Patient Journey folder developed in collaboration with patients, parents and staff at Bristol Children’s Hospital. This eases the burden of copious amounts of paperwork to file and relieve any stress and anxiety children may have during lengthy appointments and admissions by providing activities, visual tours and cartoon-like paediatricians to explain procedures in a fun and engaging way.
*Virtual counselling sessions to Children and Families in Bristol and the surrounding area that are affected by a heart condition.

Heart Heroes
Heart Heroes work with children and their families living with heart conditions. We aim to provide services for these children, to help them meet others who are in similar situations and allow their family to talk to other families going through related experiences.
We aim to introduce families with similar experiences so that they can support each other. There are an estimated 6,500 children with congenital heart disease in the South West alone – not including those who have developed heart conditions as a result of viral/bacterial infection or trauma.
