The Story

At North Mead, we believe that play is essential for every child’s development. In an area like ours there isn’t access to safe and stimulating play spaces having a place to play is even more important. This is why we’re reaching out for your help to raise funds to update and renew our playground, creating a safe space where our children can learn, grow, and thrive through play. Why Play Matters Play isn’t just about having fun—it’s crucial for children’s physical, emotional, and social development. Through play, children develop motor skills, build strength, and improve their coordination. It also encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork as they engage with their peers in imaginative play. Having access to high-quality, safe play equipment: - Promotes physical health: Climbing, balancing, and running help children stay active and build their strength and fitness - Supports mental well-being: Play provides an important outlet for children to express themselves, reduce stress, and build resilience. - Fosters social skills: Playgrounds offer a space where children can learn to share, collaborate, and communicate with others, building friendships and social confidence. In an area where safe recreational spaces are limited, our playground offers an invaluable resource for the children of North Mead. But to keep it up to date we need to makes some more improvement to our equipment. Your donation will go directly towards: - Enhancing the playground to provide a more engaging and stimulating space where children can play and learn - Bring older equipment up to date. By supporting this project, you are not only helping to create a safe place for our children to play, but you are also contributing to their overall development and well-being. How You Can Help We are looking to raise £5,000 to cover the improvements to our playground and we hope any amount you can give—whether £5 or £50—can help us get there and bring us closer to providing a new safer, fun space for our children to enjoy. Thank you for your generosity and for supporting the children of North Mead.

The Mead Educational Trust

North Mead Primary Academy is part of the The Mead Educational Trust which is a family of 8 primary and 5 secondary schools in Leicester and Leicestershire. We have a 'one-Trust' ethos which means that all our schools support each other to make sure that every child in our care has the best possible start in life. Our Trust mission is ‘together we make a positive difference’ and our communities are very much at the heart of this. Mead schools serve some of the most deprived communities in Leicester, as well as the most multi-cultural. We place a high priority on supporting our wider communities because we know it has a direct impact on how well our children thrive in school. Our school staff do an amazing job of supporting children and families, but there is so much more they could achieve with your support and donations. The projects you see here will allow our schools go the extra mile to support our children, families and communities.
