The Story
Each woman in the women's group is given 5 productive chickens from proven high-laying breeds. The hens are grown on and start laying eggs, the eggs are sold or consumed by her family. She is also given a cockerel so she can produce her own chicks, by doing this she can increase her flock or sell the little chicks to others. In two years she pays back the original value of the 5 chickens to the women's group with a bit of interest, this money is then used to purchase more chickens for another woman in the group. It's literally banking on chickens!
